Content Headlines on CD ROM

  • In computing, sound reproduction and video, an optical disc is flat, circular, usually polycarbonate disc whereon data is stored in the form of pits (or bumps) within a flat surface.
  • An audio compact disc consists of one or more stereo tracks stored using 16-bit PCM coding at a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz.
  • Compact disc technology was later adapted for use as a data storage device, known as a CD-ROM, and to include record-once and re-writable media (CD-R and CD-RW).
  • Replicated CDs are mass-produced using a hydraulic injection mold, where a glass master disc is created and used to make "stampers."
  • CDs and DVDs can be machine packed in a number of different packages together with booklets and other printed parts.
  • Quality Assurance is an essential part of manufacturing CDs to ensure that they meet specifications and to monitor the processes involved.
  • Copy protection is carried out using a combination of  premastering, glass mastering and QA, all of which need new or modified equipment and processes.
  • The advantages of CD pressing are cheapness, reliability and volume. For large volumes,
CDs with two colour labels and standard jewel cases can cost less than 50 pence each. The
better plants have equipment that checks every disc optically, and you can be sure of a
failure rate of less than 0.1%.
  • Polycarbonate of high purity is the needed raw material, which will be imported from Europe
  • With a population of 1.2 billion people, China is potentially the largest single market for optical disc media in the world
  • India could easily be the next big market for these products
  • Going forward as the market develops sufficiently to sustain the local CD production most of the countries then will have their own replication facility. Countries like Iran, Syria, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Jordan come into this category.
  • Minidisc industry hardware: Sony, JVC, Kenwood, Aiwa, Sharp, Sanyo, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Sansui, Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Panasonic, Pioneer, Denon, Clarion, Onkyo, Fujitsu-Ten, Teac, Yamaha, Alphine, Gold-Star, RCA and Telefunken.
  • MiniDisc recording media: TDK, Kuraray, Maxwell, Fuji, Denon,  Konica, Xeus, 3M, Idemistsu, Panasonic, Tsutaya, Kao, MPO and BASF.
  • Equipments to manufacture 50,000 pieces per day will cost about 10 Crores of Indian Rupees apart from invest ment required for working capitol, Land & Building.
