- Aerocon is an ideal
substitute for traditional clay bricks and hollow concrete blocks used
for wall construction.
- These blocks are in
range from a thickness of 75mm to 200mm respectively. They can also be
made to required size.
- Aerocon's micro
cellular structure incorporates millions of pockets of trapped air which
gives it characteristic light weight, high thermal insulation and
excellent frost and water resistance.
- The physical
properties of AAC depend primarily on the product grade.
- The grades produced
in the US range from 2.0 – 7.5 with compressive strength ranging from
290 – 1090 psi and dry density ranging from 25
– 44 pcf
respectively.
- The basic raw
materials used in production of Aerocon blocks are Cement, Fly ash, lime
and water.
Aerocon blocks can be plastered, painted, dry lined or
tiled.
- AAC is manufactured
by combining sand, lime, cement, and water plus an expansion agent that
reacts with the other ingredients to form the
porous microstructure
in the concrete.
- The production
process is very carefully monitored to insure a controlled consistency
in the proportions and timing of all ingredients that are used in each
batch.
- The manufacturing
process for the block form of AAC begins by mixing carefully measured
quantities of the ingredients.
- Aerocon block is
extremely light, just one-third the weight of clay bricks. They are much
easier to handle on the site.
- Aerocon block covers
the same area as that 14 clay bricks do enabling a faster construction
results in saving of labour, time and material.
- Aerocon's excellent
thermal properties helps in saving recurring costs of heating and
cooling.
- It is fire
resistant. It is moisture resistant. It has exceptional good
workability.
- Aerocon blocks are
resistant to moisture penetration. the structure being closed cells,
there is less capillary action, thus providing a high level of moisture
resistance.
- Aerocon blocks have
exceptionally good workability and are easy to cut, shape and chase
using ordinary wood working tools.
- Aerocon blocks are
widely used in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
- The large, precisely
dimensioned elements of AAC allow rapid
construction.
- The cost of building
with AAC initially may be 15 to 20 percent higher that conventional
(i.e., wood or concrete block) construction due to the time it
takes for the trades to learn to handle the material.
- Reinforcement used
in the manufacturing of certain AAC reinforced products is plain
reinforcement wire that conforms to ASTM A82.
- AAC building systems
have been evaluated by National Evaluation Services that encompass the
code bodies SBCCI, BOCA, and UBC.
These three codes cover almost all
state jurisdictions and should satisfy all needs.
- US production of
plain and
reinforced AAC started in 1995 in the southeast, and has
since spread to other parts of the country.
- There are a few
companies already in the field in India too
-
Plant with viable
capacity to produce about 120 million bricks/ year, will need an
investment of about 12 Crores
- Chinese machinery
suppliers offer Plant & machinery value from USD 200,000 to USD 2000,000
for varying capacities
