  • Cypermethrin is a pyrethroid insecticide. It was first
    synthesized in 1974
  • Cypermethrin acts as a stomach and contact insecticide.
  • Cypermethrin is a pyrethroid pesticide and is used in the control of a wide range of insects on crops like vegetables, cereals, maize etc.
  • Cypermethrin is a synthetic chemical similar to the pyrethrins in pyrethrum extract (whichcomes fromthe chrysanthemum plant). Pyrethroids, including cypermethrin were designed to be effective longer than pyrethrins.
  • Humans excrete cypermethrin rapidly.
  • It behaves as a fast-acting neurotoxin in insects. It is easily degraded on soil and plants but can be effective for weeks when applied to indoor inert surfaces.
  • Cypermethrin is a mixture of 4 - iastereo isomers each of
which is present as pair of enantiomers. The ratio of the 2
    enantiomers in each diastereo - isomer is 1 : 1 (50% Cis,
    50% trans).
  • Cypermethrin may be formulated as an emulsifiable concentrate, ULV, and wettable powder formulations.
  • Technical cypermethrin is a mixture of eight different isomers, each of which may have its own chemical and biological properties.
  • The microbial consortium from
the animal waste (cow dung) has been assessed and the potential microorganism for the bioremediation of hazardous waste compounds with special reference to cypermethrin has been assessed using scale-up
process technique at increasing concentrations of cypermethrin and by sequencing microorganism and developing phylogenetic tree.
  • The biodegradation of Cypermethrin (20 to 125 mg/L) in an effluent using batch activated sludge process.
  • The ability of five bacterial isolates (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella Sp., Escherichia coli, Bacillus
Sp. and Corynebacterium) isolated from Brinjal cultivated field to degrade cypermethrin.
  • A rapid and environmentally friendly methodology was developed for the extraction of pyrethroid insecticides from semi permeable membrane
devices (SPMDs), in which they were preconcentrated in gas phase.
  • Milk is one of the most complete food for humans, because it contains nutrients required for growth and development of newborns. However, milk quality can be endangered due to the presence of contaminants, especially of cypermethrin pesticide, which is widely used in Brazil to treat lactating dairy cows, mainly against ticks, flies, lice and dermatobia.
  • Cynoff 25ULV® (cypermethrin 25 g/l) and Solfac UL015® (cyfluthrin1.5% w/v) were evaluated against the sentinel sugar-fed adults and 4th-instar larvae of Aedes aegypti in a housing estate endemic of dengue in Malaysia.
  • The fresh water field crab, Spiralothelphusa hydrodroma is an important human food source in parts of South In d ia and the crab is cons tantly exposed to pes ticides, which are used extens ively to control
    agricultural pests.
  • Soil from local beech-forest, spruce-forest and an industrial area was taken. Control- and test-microcosms containing 150 ml soil were spiked with cypermethrin 0,4 mg/ml soil. Cypermethrin residues were
    extracted.
  • The residues of the pyrethroid insecticide cypermethrin in the milk of a lactating dairy
cow was detected and quantitated and the extracts obtained were analyzed by gas chromatography–ion trap mass spectrometry technique.
  • The toxic effects of cypermethrin pesticide in fish was analysis by High Performance Liquid
Chromatography (HPLC). Cypermethrin is induced in fish body than functioning of all organs of fish body is delay finally dead and it is dependent upon nature and concentration of pesticide.
