- Diamond is the
hardest natural material. The Mohs hardness scale, on which diamond is
a '10' and corundum (sapphire) is a '9', doesn't adequately attest to
this incredible hardness, as diamond is exponentially harder than
corundum.
- Synthetic
industrial diamonds are produced the process of High Pressure High
Temperature Synthesis (HPHT). In HPHT synthesis, graphite and a
metallic catalyst are placed in a hydraulic press under high
temperatures and pressures.
- Man made diamond’
is also known as synthetic diamond and this ‘man made diamond’ or the
‘lab created diamond’ undergoes a chemical and physical process in the
diamond mines. The main difference between ‘Man made diamond’ and the
natural diamond is the composition of three dimensional carbon
crystals.
- The process o
synthesis and sinterization of industrial diamonds is performed under
high pressure and temperatures (HPHT) up to 8,0
GPa and 1800ºC in high pressure apparatus (HPA) capable of sustaining
these values for determined periods of time using special hydraulic
clasps.
- Both synthetic and
natural diamond have industrial uses. Synthetic industrial diamond is
superior to its natural diamond counterpart because its properties can
be tailored to specific applications, and it can be produced in large
quantities
- It is for
these reasons that synthetic diamond accounts for about 98% of the
industrial diamond used in the United States and nearly 90% of the
industrial diamond used in the world.
- Diamonds that are
not sold as fine gems have been used in various industrial
applications for years - including machining tools and abrasives. At
Pure Spin TM Golf, we have developed a breakthrough technology for
integrating "industrial diamonds" in golf club design.
- All VFT models work
with the highly precise fast tool technology – an innovative single
point turning process utilizing PCD or diamond tools. The fast-tool
technology produces ready-to polish lenses for all organic materials –
toric, spheric, free-form, convex or concave surfaces with highest
surface quality and form accuracy.
- Diamond bearing are
used in instruments for laboratories. No friction is created when
rubbing them together because of their hardness. Some machines turn at
90 000 revolutions a minute. No lubrications are needed even at this
high speed to keep the bearing from wearing away. Diamonds are used to
manufacture fine wire, such as the wire used in electric toaster.
