- The term
"iodine" usually refers to the chemical element in a general
sense without specifying its chemical form, but it is also used
to denote the form I2. Occasionally salt or another vehicle is
described as "iodated" when potassium iodate (KIO3) is added, or
as "iodinated" when iodine (I2) is added to a vehicle such as
water.

Potassium Iodate processing: Iodine crude is dissolved in
a solution of caustic potash and the desired alkalinity is
obtained.The solution is filtered by ultrafine filter and
electrolysed and cooled to room temperature to
obtain crystals of potassium iodate. The material centrifuged,
dried, analysed and packed. Themother obtained is recycled in
next batch.

Calcium Iodate processing: Iodine crude dissolved in
hydrogen peroxide slowly under stirring in reactor at 60-70
degree centigrade and adds calcium hydroxide to form calcium
Iodate crystals formed which is cooled, and centrifuged.
- Sodium Iodate
processing: Iodine
crude is dissolved in a solution of Caustic Soda and the desired
alkalinity is obtained. Thesolution is filtered by ultrafine
filter and electrolysed and cooled to room temperature to obtain
crystals of Sodium Iodate. The material centrifuged, dried,
analysed and packed. The motherliquor is obtained in next batch.
- Potassium
iodate is used as an additive to raise herbage iodine levels.
Potassium iodate is used for iodination of table salt to prevent
iodine deficiency in humans.
- The major
reason for this is the diverse range of applications of
potassium iodate. It is used in agriculture, water treatment,
food preservation, medical, industrial and fire service
applications among others.
- The global

as medicine grade, food grade, feed grade, reagent grade,
cosmetic grade, industrial grade, and agriculture grade
- Calcium Iodate
is used as a dough conditioner. It is an oxidant added to
lotions and ointments as an antiseptic, disinfectant and
deodorant. It is used in animal feed to correct iodine
deficiency and prevent various animal diseases. In food industry
it is used for iodisation of table salt.
