- Vodka is one of the
world's most popular distilled beverages. It is a clear liquid
containing water and ethanol purified by distillation from a fermented
substance such as potatoes, grain or sugar beet molasses, and an
insignificant amount of other substances: impurities and possibly
flavourings. Except for various types of flavourings, vodka is a
colourless liquid.
- Cereal grains are
the preferred starch, with rye used for the purest vodka.
The word
vodka has been known since the 17th century and is most likely a
derivative of voda (water). In the past, other names were also used for
the drink: wine (bread wine), korchma or korchma wine, distilled wine,
burning wine, burnt wine and bitter wine among others.
- Vodka is the
dominant spirit of Eastern Europe. It is made by fermenting and then
distilling the simple sugars from a mash of pale grain or vegetal
matter.
- In recent years, new
distillation technologies have been explored, developed and perfected
that allow producers to have tighter control over the production and, as
a result, quality of vodka.
- Distilled seven
times and filtered five times, idol vodka offers unmatched purity and
smoothness from 100% natural ingredients.
- The distilled vodka
can have a proof as high as 145, all taste and odor has been eliminated,
making vodka a neutral spirit. Water is added to bring the proof down to
a range between 80 and 100.
- Vodka manufacturing
process is pretty simple that is the grain or vegetables are put inside
a mash tub. The tub is very similar to a washing machine. While the tub
rotates it breaks down the grains. Ground malt is added to the compound
as it eases the conversion of the starches to sugar.
The basic steps
in vodka-making are: Fermentation, Distillation and rectification,
Filtration and purification, Dilution and bottling ,
Fermentation.
- Vodka may be
distilled from any starch/sugar-rich plant matter; most vodka today is
produced from grains such as sorghum, corn, rye or wheat. Some vodka is
made from potatoes, molasses, soybeans, grapes and sometimes even
byproducts of oil refining or wood pulp processing.
Technology
- The advancement of
Vodka making technology, it was found that impurities of the spirit can
be removed by the process of filtering the spirit through
charcoal.
- Remove bandages
painlessly, first saturate the bandage with vodka, which will then
dissolve the adhesive.
- To clean your
eyeglasses, simply wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth dampened
with vodka. The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass and kills
germs.
- Vodka is also a
great cleaning agent. Nothing can make your glass and chrome bathroom
fixtures shine like a polish with some vodka.
- Use vodka on your
face as an astringent. It cleanses the skin and tightens the
pores.
