India produced
total quantity
of 81,539 tonne during
April to December 2012 representing a 1.1 per cent fall on year. -
India consumed
36,945 tonne of Synthetic during December 2012 making the total during
April to December 2012 at 333,935 tonne, up 5.0 per cent on Year
-
Synthetic Ruber (SR)mainly consists of Styrene
Butadiene (SBR) Poly Butadiene(BR)
- Synthetic SBR latexes can be blended with NR for
adhesives in cold seal, tamper evident and similar applications
- Synthetic rubber producers have limited pricing
power against the major consumer tyre manufacturers due to ongoing
synthetic rubber oversupply.
- Styrene Butadiene Latex Investment are proposed
due as
The Asian coated paper industry is growing rapidly, particularly in
China, Indonesia and India
- In 2014 , synthetic rubber chain forecasts are
already relatively
bearish
- Butadiene supply impact imminent as 2014 global
butadiene capacity utilisation rate falling 3ppt below general estimate
of 73%, especially for 2014
- India exported sbr latex worth USD 874,399 with
total quantity of 1,067,423. United Arab Emirates is the largest buyer
of sbr latex accounting for exports worth USD 248,076 followed by
Vietnam and Thailand which imported sbr latex worth USD 241,392 and USD
198,682 respectively. Nhava Sheva Sea accounted for 95% of exports
followed by Petrapole Road and Bombay Air Cargo which account for 1.6%
and 1% of exports respectively. Average price of sbr latex per unit is
USD 0.82 and average value per shipment is 9,936
- India imported sbr latex worth USD 8,875,807
with total quantity of 4,014,930. Germany is the largest supplier of sbr
latex accounting for imports worth USD 3,200,687 followed by Japan and
United Kingdom which exported sbr latex worth USD
1,610,023 and USD 1,294,691 respectively.Chennai Sea accounted for 54.2%
of imports followed by Tughlakabad and Nhava Sheva Sea which account for
41.6% and 3.9% of imports respectively.Average price of sbr latex per
unit is USD 2.21 and average value per shipment is 27,394
- Companies in Japan, Korea , USA are exporting to
India and these companies are said to be creating unfair trade &
competition with the companies in India
- In 2011 SBR capacity in India was 0.02 MMT and
is expected to touch 0.37 MMT in 2016
- Latex (emulsion) SBR is extensively used in
coated papers, being one of the most cost-effective resins to bind
pigmented coatings. It is also used in building applications, as a
sealing and binding agent behind renders as an alternative to PVA, but
is more expensive. In the latter application, it offers better
durability, reduced shrinkage and increased flexibility, as well as
being resistant to emulsification in damp conditions.
