- Aerated water is
distilled water to which purified air is added to improve its
flavor.
- Aeration is the
treatment process whereby water is brought into intimate contact
with air for the pur-pose of (a) increasing the oxygen content, (b)
reducing the carbon dioxide content, and (c) removing hydrogen
sulphide, methane and various volatile organic compounds responsible
for bad
taste and odour.
- Aeration is the
process of adding oxygen to water. There are many types of methods
to introduce oxygen to water through the process of aeration.
- The efficiency of the
aeration process depends almost entirely on the amount of surface
contact between the air and water. This contact is controlled
primarily by the size of the water droplet or air bubble.
- Aeration can be
accomplished by mechanical aerators or underwater air diffusers.
Mechanical aerators agitate water to produce liquid to air contact,
while underwater diffusers introduce air bubbles from a depth to
achieve oxygen transfer and mixing.
- Water aeration is
often required in water bodies that suffer from anoxic conditions,
usually caused by adjacent human activities such as sewage
discharges, agricultural run-off, or over-baiting a fishing lake.
- Small tanks and ponds
for keeping aquatic animals such as fish or lobsters often rely on
aeration to maintain sufficient level of oxygenation in the water.
- Bottled water market
is one of the fastest growing and competitive industries in China.
It plays a major role in solving water pollution problems and
providing the public with safe and convenient drinking water.
