  • Synonyms of quinoline are benzopyridine, benzo pyridine, leucol, leukol, 1-azanaphthalene, 1-benzazine, 1-benzine, chinoline, chinoleine, Chinolin.
  • It is a heterocyclic aromatic organic compound and its chemical formula is C9H7N.
  • Raw material of quinoline is coal tar, aniline or quinine.
  • The quinoline has melting point and boiling point, melting point range 26 to 28 Celsius and the boiling point is 237 Celsius then the specific cavity is 1.08 to 1.095.
  • Quinoline and substituted quinolines are prepared by reacting aromatic amine or coal tar with substituted acrolein at evaluated temperatures in mineral oil.
  • The quinoline are obtained by an energy consumptive steam distillation procedure and its followed by solvent extraction.
  • Nitrobenzene, arsenic pentoxide or iron chloride are intermediate is carried out by the oxidation of the dihydro quinoline.
  • It is slightly soluble in cold water but dissolves readily in hot water and it is a colourless hygroscopic liquid.
  • The quinoline in quinine has a 6 MeO substituent and side chain attached to C4 and the quinoline forms part of the structure of quinoline.
  • They are used in transition-metal complex catalyst chemistry for uniform polymerization and luminescence chemistry.
it also used as antifoaming agent in refinery field.
  • Quinoline, Diaz naphthalene at 1,4 positions, is used as a chemical intermediate for making fungicides and other organic compounds
quinoline compounds can be prepared by  synthesis series of different oxidizing agents.
  • It is a yellowish oily liquid, soluble alcohol, ether, carbon disulfide and readily in many organic solvents. It can be contained by the distillation of coal tar.
  • Quinoline containing Antimalarial drugs, such as chloroquine, quinine and mefloquine.
  • As a result of Chloroquine resistance appears to arise  decreased level of the  chloroquine uptake, due to an increased vacuolar pH or to changes in a chloroquine importer or receptor.
  • Anilines is also come to quinoline by crclization to an ortho position.
