- Putty is
broad term used for adhesive materials
- It is
used in many different applications such as anti-corrosive putty
for concrete and metals, electrical conductive putty, aqua putty
with heat and cold resistance, putty powder for high strength
emulsion paints and so on

putties
- Window
Putty is a product widely used to act as glue for fitting glass
to frames.
- Putty is
prepared from Lime stone mixed with linseed oil before being
applied as an amorphous mass
- Window
glass putty is a sealing adhesive used to fix glass panes into
windows and doors. This putty is highly elastic and very long
lasting for durable use.
- Glass
putty is available in both ISI as well as non ISI grades.
- The ISI
grade window putty is regularly supplied for meeting government
orders & army supplies. Standard packing for glass putty is in
10 kgs. jute bags.
- Glazing
putty is traditionally made by mixing a base of whiting (finely
ground chalk) with linseed oil in various proportions.
- Finer
grain Calcium carbonate used to make chalk paints will produce a
smoother and easier to use putty compound
- Although
some commercially made putty compounds contain Portland Cement,
you should not use it and should NOT use it to make putty. This
material sets too hard and sticks to the glass.
- Raw
linseed oil works but it makes a putty that takes near eternity
to harden. Adding boiled linseed oil will encourage your putty
to set quicker. A good ratio is 75% raw and 25% boiled. That’s 3
parts raw and 1 part boiled
