- Cartap is a
thiocarbamate insecticide with the chemical formula
C7H16ClN3O2S2.
- Cartap hydrochloride
and Azadirachtin are effective larvicides.
- The intercropped
cabbage was successfully raised during the rainy season without
insecticidal application, however two sprays with 0.05% cartap
hydrochloride were necessary to control diamondback moth during
winter.
- Pesticide Cartap has
been characterized as high-effectiveness, low-toxicity and low-residue.
It's highly effective in preventing and
eliminating pests of
Lepidoptera and Elytrum. It can be applied for preventing and
eliminating Snout Moth's larva series, cabbage caterpillar in rice
field, sugarcane field. It can be mix formulated with other
pesticides.
- Controlled release
formulations of insecticide cartap hydrochloride were prepared using
commercially available polyvinyl chloride
(emulsion and suspension),
carboxy methyl cellulose and carboxy methyl cellulose with clay
(bentonite, kaolinite and Fullers’ earth).
- These released cartap
hydrochloride beyond 45 days as compared to 14 days from its commercial
4G. sodium carboxy Methyl Zellulose-Kaolinite-based formulation provided
a superior control (3.33%) of rice leaf folder in field grown rice
(Oryza sativa L.) at half the dose (375 g a i/ha) in comparison to
cartap hydrochloride 4 G (5.44%) at 72 days after treatment.
- The discriminating dose
technique by vial assay is used to routinely monitor resistance in
cabbage and cauliflower growing areas using Cartap hydrochloride.
- It has been reported
that synthetic pyrethroids were failed to control DBM, cartap
hydrochloride, a tertiary amine, was widely used by the cultivators to
suppress DBM populations since 1987.
- The toxicity towards
Bombus terrestris (L.) of the insecticide cartap hydrochloride was
tested in the laboratory.
- One spray of Cartap
hydrochloride 50 WP @ 300 g a.i. / ha at 60 DAT subject to pest damage
(ETL).
- It has been reported
that Development of cartap hydrochloride tolerant strain of Trichogramma
chilonis was conducted in Biocontrol Laboratory, G. B. Pant University
of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar.
