- Sirmate is a carbamate
organic herbicide; has low toxicity but in very large doses causes
diarrhea, abdominal pain and bloat in cattle.
- Sirmate is otherwise known
as Dichlormate.
- Oxidation of aliphatic
groups takes place in carbamate herbicides demonstrated that N -methyl
hydroxylation for dichlormate, a metabolite that is either
conjugated or loses the hydroxymethyl moiety to produce N -demethylated
dichlormate.
- Amitrole
(3-amino-s-triazole), dichlormate (3,4-dichlorobenzylmethylcarbamate),
and pyriclor (2,3,5-trichloro-4.pyridinol) inhibited normal
carotenogenesis in etiolated
wheat (Triticum aestivum L. var. Coker
65-20) seedlings.
- Dichlormate-treated plants
accumulated more chlorophyll, xanthophylls, and ,B-carotene than plants
treated with the other herbicides.
- Postemergent application of
Sirmate directly on plants caused contact injury or necrosis but did not
induce chlorosis of mature green leaves. The mechanism of Sirmate's
herbicidal action is still unknown
