- Aluminium chloride
(AlCl3) is a compound of aluminium and chlorine.
- Aluminium chloride
is highly deliquescent, and can explode upon abrupt contact with water
because of the high heat of hydration.
- Aluminum Chloride is
an excellent water soluble crystalline Aluminum source for uses
compatible with chlorides.
- Aluminium chloride
(AlCl3) is a major industrial catalyst.
- Aluminium chloride
is manufactured on a large scale by the exothermic reaction of aluminium
metal with chlorine or hydrogen chloride.
- Aluminium Chloride
is conventionally prepared by a number of well-known methods, such as,
(1) by crystallizing anhydrous aluminium chloride from a hydrochloric
acid solution (2) by the reaction of bauxite or alumina with coke and
chlorine at about 1500 deg F. (3) by the reaction of chlorine with
molten aluminium.
- Aluminium chloride
was the first compound to be used as an antiperspirant.
- Aluminium Chloride
is Used as a catalyst in the process of Friedel Crafts.
- Aluminum Chloride is
also used in the production of aluminum, in the metallurgical industry
and as a flux in aluminum smelting; in the production of rubber;
lubricants and wood preservatives, and in cosmetics as an astringent;
active ingredient in antiperspirants.
- It is widely used in
the manufacturing of petrochemicals such as alkylbenzene, ethylbenzene,
alkyl aryl ketone, ethyl chloride.
- Aluminum chloride
can be added incrementally to flush water in hydraulic flush systems, or
injected into flush water for pull/ plug systems.
- Liquid aluminum
chloride
can be added to swine manure at most types
of production facilities. This may occur in the pit inside the
production facility or in a retention pond or lagoon.
- Aluminium chloride
is a well - known compound which has found wide spread use in the dye,
metallurgical and medical arts and especially in the petroleum and
catalysis fields.
