- Lemon balm belongs to the mint family and is indigenous to Southern
Europe, the Mediterranean region, Western Asia, and North Africa. Lemon
balm is now cultivated worldwide.
- Lemon balm flourishes in full sun and grows best in moderate
temperatures. It should be cultivated in temperate and subtropics
regions. It can survive moderate frost.
- The fresh and dried plant is used for essential oil extraction. The
dried plant is also used for extraction of medicinal compounds as well
as for health tea.
- The Lemon Balm essential oil has many medicinal properties, ranging
from the treatment of skin
disorders to the calming of painful headaches.
- Indicated for headaches, indigestion, nausea, depression, sedative,
eczema allergyand insect bites. Infusions of fresh leaves of lemon balm
are used medicinally to calm heart spasms, headache, soothe a nervous
stomach, nervous exhaustion and the early stages of colds or flu.
- Lemon Balm is a high-priced essential oil plant. Due to its strong
international demand, some dealers
encourage their contracted farmers to increase their production volumes
in order to meet that
demand

- Forty six constituents were found in the M. officinal
is herb essential oil extracted by the three distillation methods.
- The highest oil yield was obtained by
hydrodistillation and the lowest by steam distillation

formulations as liquid, capsules, powder and cream,paste.

Lemon Grass oil. As a result, a considerable number of manufacturers
prefer using Lemon Grass oil to using Lemon Balm when making lemony
aromas and flavours.
- As an industrial product, Lemon Balm is used as a fragrance
component in toiletries, perfumes and as an insect repellent.
