- Thrombinase is a novel
blood clot
dissolving agent
- Thrombolytic enzyme is referred to as
Thrombinase having a molecular weight of 31,000 to 32,000
- Uses: in the treatment of the cerebral
thrombosis stroke, myocardial infarction, deep vein thrombosis and in
the prevention of post-surgical adhesion.
- The product has been cleared by Drug
Controller General of India (DCGI) for Phase I clinical trials.
- Thrombinase is
thrombin dissolving agent containing a fibrinolytic enzyme named as
thrombinase, isolated, identified and purified for the first time from a
Bacillus species
- Bacillus is a genus of
Gram-positive rod-shaped bacteria and a member of the division
Firmicutes.
- Many Bacillus species are able to secrete
large quantities of enzymes. Bacillus amyloliquefaciens is a species of
Bacillus that is the source of a natural antibiotic protein barnase (a
ribonuclease), alpha amylase used in starch hydrolysis, the protease
subtilisin used with detergents, and the BamH1 restriction enzyme used
in DNA research
