- A concrete plasticizer
is defined here as: „An admixture that allows the water content of a
specifi c concrete mixture to be reduced without impairing its
consistency or to increase its slump without changing the water
content or to achieve both effects at the
same time.“
- Plasticizers, also
known as Super Plasticizers or high-range water reducers which
reduce water content by 12 to 30 percent and can be added to
concrete to make high-slump flowing concrete.
- Super plasticizer (SP)
plays a role in decreasing the viscosity of the concrete, without
reducing the strength of concrete and help in pemandatan without
vibrator.
- The concrete
super plasticizers market is segmented into five types: sulfonated
naphthalene formaldehydes (SNF), sulfonated melamine formaldehydes (SMF),
modified lignosulfonates (MLS), polycarboxylic acids (PC), and
others.
- The raw materials
essentially used for manufacturing concrete plasticizers and
superplasticizers
are:
lignosulphonates
melamine sulphonates
naphthalene sulphonates
polycarboxylate(s) /polycarboxylether
- According to market
research firms, The global concrete super plasticizers (CSP) market
is expected to reach USD 4.77 Billion by 2020 at a CAGR of 8.2%
between 2015 and 2020. This growth is fueled by the high demand from
the emerging economies and also because of the ecological cost
benefits.
- Major players such as
Arkema SA (France), BASF SE (Germany), Kao Corporation (Japan), Sika
AG (Switzerland), and W.R. Grace & Co. (U.S.) have adopted
development strategies such as expansions, acquisitions, and product
developments to achieve growth in the global CSP market.
- The Government of
Indonesia, along with some private players, is also encouraging
investments in the country's construction industry, which is
expected to propel the demand for construction chemicals such as
specialty admixtures, waterproofing compounds, flooring compounds,
etc. over the next five years.
- The construction
chemicals market is treading towards consolidation with PT Sika
Indonesia, PT BASF, PT FOSROC, W. R. Grace, Aquaproof and PT
Pidilite Indonesia being the leading market players.
