  • An admixture for Concrete that allows the water content of a concrete mixture to be reduced without impairing its consistency or to increase its slump without changing the water content or to achieve both effects at the same time.
  • Plasticizers, also known as Super Plasticizers or high-range water reducers which reduce water content by 12 to 30 percent and can be added to concrete to make high-slump flowing concrete.
  • Properties includes increases durability& impermeability, lower pumping pressure, reduction in shrinkage, increased cement efficiency as compared to conventional concrete used in the construction.
  • Plasticizers are more effective than regular or mid-range water reducing admixtures in producing
    flowing concrete.
  • Plasticizers are mixed from 0.1% to 0.4% by weight of cement used and it reduces 5% to 15% of water with the increment of workability from 3 to 8cm slump.
  • Field of Applications includes in Per-Stressed Concrete, Areas Of Congested Reinforcement, Pre - Cast Concrete manufacture, Concrete Brick And Block Manufacture and Hot Weather Concreting To Extend Workability.
  • The super-plasticizers are also available in market in various brands with specifications for
    composition, dosages.
  • Superplasticizers are able to enhance the placing characteristics of concrete mixture by increasing
    the workability level.
  • They allow easy placement of concrete mixture even with low W/C as required by strength or durability reasons.
  • Concrete admixtures are  preferred in construction industry as these offer enhanced properties such as improved compressive or flexural strength, corrosion resistance.
  • From 2012 to 2017, the global concrete admixtures consumption is expected to grow at an estimate ($15,079 million by 2017) of  6.88%.
