  • Isobutyl amine is an organic chemical compound with the formula (CH3)2CHCH2NH2, and occurs as a colorless liquid.
  • Isobutyl amine is one of the four isomeric amines of butane, the others being n-butyl amine, sec-butylamine and tert-butylamine.
  • The flavoprotein isobutyl amine N-hydroxylase (IBAH) catalyzes the oxidation of isobutylamine to isobutyl hydroxylamine,
a key step in the biosynthesis of the azoxy antibiotic valanimycin.
  • The valanimycin producer Streptomyces viridifaciens contains a two-component enzyme system that catalyzes the oxidation of isobutylamine to isobutyl hydroxylamine.
One component of this enzyme system is isobutyl amine hydroxylase, and the other component is a flavin reeducates.
  • Phenyl ethylamine and isobutyl amine were also increased on the inulin diet compared to the hay diet as were putrescine and diaminoheptane.
  • A simple colorimetric sensing array based on four different types of molecular recognition allows the discrimination of functionalized organic vapors.
  • Sensitivities well below 1 ppmv have been observed for amines and the technique even allows the discrimination of isomers.
  • This compound is used as an ingredient in the manufacture of pesticides , pharmaceuticals, and emulsifiers.
  • It is also a precursor for the manufacture of N,N'-dibutylthiourea, a rubber vulcanization accelerator, and n-butylbenzenesulfonamide, a plasticizer of nylon.
  • It is used as an intermediate in the preparation of rubber accelerators, dyes and other organic compounds.
