Project at a Glance Contents on the CD ROM
  • Squalene is a natural organic compound originally obtained for commercial purposes primarily from shark liver oil, though plant sources are used as well, including amaranth seed, rice bran, wheat germ, and olives.
  • Squalene has been proposed to be an important part of the Mediterranean diet as it may be a chemo preventative substance that protects people from cancer.
  • Squalene is a hydrocarbon and a triterpene, and is a natural and vital part of the synthesis of cholesterol, steroid hormones, and vitamin D in the human body.
  • It is used in cosmetics, and more recently as an immunologic adjuvant in vaccines.
  • Squalene oil is the most common fat and antioxidant produced in and on human skin. It is a natural moisturizer.
  • The adjuvant contained in the H1N1 vaccine is a natural product that consists of an oil-in-water emulsion composed of squalene – a naturally occurring substance found in plants, animals, and humans that is highly purified for use in the vaccine.
  • The FLUAD® adjuvant is MF59. An adjuvant enhances the immune response. This is an oil-in-water emulsion, with squalene as the oil used.
  • Squalene is being investigated as an adjunctive therapy in some cancers. In animal
models, it has proved effective in inhibiting lung tumors. It has also demonstrated chemo preventive effects against colon cancer in animal models.
  • Squalene, which is stored mainly in the shark's liver, is lighter than water with a
    specific gravity of 0.855.
  • It is effectively a source of oxygen supplier. It has the same function as Ozon where its on becomes microbe killer and O2 becomes metabolism activator of cells.
  • Squalene may be beneficial as antioxidant and beauty supplement, but its most unique feature is the presence of alkyglycerols - chemical compounds found in human bone marrow and breast milk, which may help regenerate the immune system.
  • It is being 100% unsaturated fatty acid and is good for diets as it is not accumulated in the body. It provides oxygen to the brain, which increases memory capacity and is a
good nutrient for the strains of overwork.
  • Squalene is an excellent non-greasy moisturizer that instantly softens the skin and help prevent damage of cells.
  • Squalene is a highly polyunsaturated hydrocarbon found throughout nature; it is found in small quantities in vegetable oils and in larger quantities in certain fish oils.
