  • Cocoa is the dried and partially fermented fatty seed of the cacao tree from which chocolate is made.

  • The products cocoa butter and cocoa powder can be sold to confectionery and sweet makers.
  • The manufacturing technology is simple. However, suitable tie up for coca bean
    processing technology and product recipe is necessary
  • Cleaning equipment (screening and washing), drum roaster, willowing machine, roller mill, hydraulic press, kneaders, mixers and pulveriser are the main machinery required.
  • While processors of cocoa beans are located throughout the world, the highest percentage is based in Europe, followed by Asia & Oceania, the Americas, and then Africa
  • The Netherlands, as one of the main ports into Europe, leads in imports of beans; the US, with significant production of cocoa complementary food products, leads in imports of powder; and France, one of the biggest chocolate consumption per capita markets, leads in chocolate preparations
  • There is import of cocoa beans into India from Africa and the import duty is from 23 to 52 %
  • Cocoa beans production in India is negligible compare to that of Africa
  • To process a ton of cocoa investment of about Ten Crores will be required
