countries are China, USA, Iran, Ukrain, Turkey and Mexico.

in Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and
Uttarakhand. Jammu & Kashmir
contributes around 98 per cent of
the country’s output.

Walnuts are marketed as nuts
or kernels

Walnuts can be traded
as in-shell (approximately one third of international trade) or
shelled (approximately two thirds of international trade).

After the shell has been
removed, the kernels are inspected and sorted, and can then be traded in
different forms, such as halves, quarters, or pieces. Walnut kernels can be
eaten either raw or
baked as a snack

European Union walnut producers

In shelled walnut exports,
USA is followed by Chile, Mexico, China, Republic of Moldova, India and
others. Whereas in in-shell walnut exports, USA is followed by France,
Mexico, Chile, China, Ukrain

In shelled walnut imports,
Germany ranks first followed by Japan, Spain, Turkey, France and the UK.
While for in-shell walnuts, Italy is the major buyer followed by Spain,
Mexico, Germany, Turkey and the Netherlands.

Walnuts are consumed much
more as an ingredient than as a snack. The ingredient market provides a lot
of opportunities to develop new salty and sweet snack products in the near
