China and the United States are linked economically, with the two countries combining for more than 30 percent of worldwide gross domestic product (GDP) in 2007. China is the third-largest export market for the United States and, in 2007, Chinese exports to the United States accounted for 9.5 percent of Chinese GDP. In the past decade, U.S. exports to China increased six times as fast as U.S. exports to the rest of the world.
